My dad used to say this phrase all the time. I could never remember why I remembered him saying this phrase a lot, but then I walked into the Lower School's library today and I found out.
There is a great children's story about going on a bear hunt with the same title. It is the first book I have read to Calvin that has the entire family experiencing the storyline of the book. There is no main character, there isn't even an ensemble cast. The family is the main character.
The general storyline is that the family goes "through" all of these difficult things to find the bear and then once they find the bear they return back through all of the difficult things and back into the house and under the covers. (The sweet misunderstood bear is shown returning sadly to his cave at the end). I like being under those covers.
I think there should be more stories with the family as the main character. Not Berenstein Bear's (good stuff, but that's not what I mean) -- like the whole family as one.
I guess this post doesn't say much, but this is my blog isn't it.
